Lois Schneider Realtor Supports Our Troops

In the spirit of patriotism, Lois Schneider Realtor has gone beyond its philanthropic works in Summit and the neighboring towns, to aid the men and women defending our country thousands of miles away.

Agents and staff at Lois Schneider Realtor recently spent an afternoon assembling packs of school supplies for Sunni and Shiite students in Iraq. The idea spawned when the office was looking for a way to offer encouragement and gratitude to our troops overseas. The project was a collaborative effort between Lois Schneider Realtor; Summit Support Our Troops, a Summit-based organization that establishes and builds relationships with the men and women serving from our area; and Captain Greg Edgreen, a Summit resident currently serving in Baghdad. Lois Schneider Realtor agents and staff gathered to stuff bags full of the every day school supplies that many of the Iraqi schools are lacking.

"We knew that Greg was embedded with Iraqi troops in Baghdad," says Debbie Lupton of Lois Schneider Realtor, "and that he had been receiving gifts for the troops, but that what they really needed were items to assist the local schools the troops were aiding." Because the Sunni and Shiite children no longer attend the same schools, enough packs were made to send to individual students of both schools. Additionally, Lois Schneider Realtor provided teacher.s packs to include supplies for the classroom as a whole. In a recent letter sent to Lois Schneider Realtor from Capt. Greg Edgreen, he discussed how excited both the troops and the Iraqis they work with are to help the local community. "We look forward to your packages and the happiness they will bring," stated Capt. Edgreen.

This effort would not have been possible without the bountiful donations from the agents and staff members of Lois Schneider Realtor; President and Founder, Lois Schneider; Summit Support Our Troops; and Staples of Madison. "This project would not have been nearly as impactful without the support of Staples," says Susan Hunter of Lois Schneider Realtor. "After arrangements were made with the store for the supplies that we were going to purchase, Staples came through with an overwhelmingly generous donation of supplies including paper, folders, binders, pencil pockets, and more," Ms. Hunter adds.
